PE
The P.E. lead at St. Paul's is Mr J. Gane
At St Paul's, we believe that Physical Education is about much more than just sport. We adopt a holistic approach to PE, dedicated to nurturing healthy, active, and happy children. Our comprehensive PE curriculum not only meets all National Curriculum objectives but also aims to ignite a lifelong love of exercise and physical activity in every child.
As part of our wider healthy lifestyle campaign, we are proud to be working towards the Food for Life award, encouraging our pupils to make informed choices about their health and well-being. We understand that an active lifestyle extends beyond dedicated PE lessons, which is why we've created exciting opportunities for active learning both within the classroom and during lunchtimes with our innovative zoned play and varied sports opportunities.
We are incredibly proud of our pupils' achievements in various sporting events held at St Paul's, and we are continually striving to expand our extra-curricular offerings to provide even more diverse and engaging opportunities for all our children to participate and excel. Keep checking back for updates on our latest activities and achievements!
At St Paul's, a good learner in PE embodies our school vision of Speech, Conduct, and Love, demonstrating values that extend far beyond the sporting event.
Speech: A good learner in PE uses their voice to encourage teamwork, offering positive feedback and clear communication to their peers. They show respect through their words, listening attentively to instructions and acknowledging the efforts of others, even in competitive situations. Their language reflects honesty about their own performance and the game, and they express passion for learning and participating.
Conduct: In their actions, a good PE learner shows incredible determination, persevering through challenges and not giving up when tasks are difficult. They display self-belief by trying new skills and taking on new roles with confidence. Their conduct also reflects respect for equipment, rules, and opponents, ensuring fair play. Furthermore, an eco-friendly approach is evident in how they look after the environment around them, for example, by tidying up equipment responsibly.
Love: The "love" aspect of a good learner in PE is evident in their genuine passion for physical activity and their enthusiasm to participate. They show a love for learning new skills and improving their fitness, embracing challenges with a positive attitude. This also extends to showing respect and empathy towards all classmates, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and encouraged to try their best, regardless of their ability.
