  • Computing

The computing lead at St. Paul’s is Miss R. Baines.

At St. Paul’s we recognise that computing plays a vital role in children’s development as ICT continues to be an ever increasing role in society today. We not only recognise the need for children to develop their skills in computing but also to remain safe when using technology both at home and school so we have developed our curriculum to have a heavy focus on online safety as we recognised this as a need for our children. We expect all children to use technology in a safe and responsible way.

To be good learners in computing our children set an example in:

  • Speech by ensuring we speak appropriately to each other through all our online communication and during discussions in class. We only communicate with those we know online and ensure we are respectful with our online presence. When communicating through our virtual learning environments we are aware than many others can see our input and to ensure that we are communicating appropriately here.
  • Conduct by remaining on the app or program we are instructed to go on. By ensuring that we behave in a sensible manner online and on all our devices. We ensure that we only upload and share onto the school network and VLE things which we are asked to and ensure that these things are appropriate. We use ensure we are using devices in the way they are intended.

  • Love by ensuring we help each other on our devices and with areas of computing they are struggling with necessary. We ensure that if something online upsets us or makes us feel uncomfortable we speak to a trusted adult and close or lock our devices to ensure that we can show our trusted adult what has caused upset.

  • Faith by believing others online but also by ensuring we are sceptical about what we read. By believing that in all we do God will lead us on the right path and help us to be resilient learners when we are struggling e.g. when our coding doesn’t work.

At St. Paul’s we want all children in school to develop into well rounded adults and we believe that through our vision linking to all we do, in every subject we can ensure that our children leave our school with the best possible future.
