The Design and Technology Lead at St. Paul’s is

Mrs. C. Hollinghurst.

At St. Paul’s, we recognise that Design and Technology plays a vital role in children’s development by allowing them autonomy over their creative minds and gives them an outlet to express their ideas, thoughts and feelings through designing, making, and evaluating. We support our children in developing practical skills and critical thinking, preparing them for an increasingly technological world.

To be a good learner in Design and Technology our children set an example in:

  • Speech – by ensuring and encouraging clear communication with regards to  design ideas, feedback, and reflections. Children discuss their thoughts and plans respectfully with peers and adults, learning how to collaborate effectively on creative projects.

  • Conduct – by using tools and equipment safely and appropriately. Children learn to follow procedures and handle materials with care, working through design processes with focus and accuracy. They are encouraged to evaluate and improve their work continually.

  • Love – by taking pride in their creations and those of others. We promote a growth mindset where mistakes are seen as opportunities to learn. Children develop perseverance, creativity, and respect for others’ ideas and innovations.

At St. Paul’s, we ensure that Design and Technology is meaningful, engaging, and integrated across the curriculum, enabling all children to become confident problem solvers and innovative thinkers.
