Religious Education
The Religious Education lead at St. Paul’s is Mrs E. Procter
As a Church of England school, our Christian vision and values permeate all that we do with the aim of inspiring and enabling every child to flourish. Our Religious Education curriculum plays an important role in this by supporting children develop their own beliefs, values and attitudes through their exploration of faith. We have adopted the R.E syllabus produced by Blackburn Diocesan Board of Education, Questful R.E, which has been designed to support pupils in developing a deeper understanding of Christianity and God’s Big Story. Alongside this, it allows children to explore all of the major world faiths and discuss non-religious world views, thereby preparing our children for life in our diverse world.
To be good learners in Religious Education our children set an example in:
- Speech by exploring their own faith and that of others using each unit’s over-arching and key questions. These discussions take place in a whole class group or in smaller groups and pairs where the children speak appropriately to each other, asking insightful questions, using a considerate tone of voice and appropriate vocabulary. In R.E, the children share their thoughts, evaluations and reflections with respect for the beliefs of others, their relationship with God and the world around them.
- Conduct by treating places of worship, religious artefacts and visitors with respect and demonstrating consideration and compassion for the beliefs and practises of others. We explore all faiths through a range of creative and multisensory activities, taking the time to record our observations and reflections thoughtfully. We engage well in discussions and seek to improve our understanding of our beliefs and those of others.
- Love by demonstrating empathy, acting with kindness and sensitivity towards others when exploring faith. We take the time to philosophise and deepen our understanding of world views and the impact of religion on the lives of the people in our community, ensuring that we treat everyone with dignity and reverence.
At St. Paul’s we want all children in school to develop into well rounded adults and we believe that through our vision linking to all we do, in every subject we can ensure that our children leave our school with the best possible future.
