Whilst we are not at school work will be posted each Monday morning. If you have any questions regarding the tasks set, please email your child's class teacher using the following email year2@st-pauls.lancs.sch.uk  Teachers will endeavour to reply to every parent as soon as possible. These are unprecedented times so please continue to be patient if we are unable to respond immediately to any questions about home learning activities set.  It is very important that you contact your class teacher at least once a week by Thursday morning to let them know you are OK and how your child is coping with the work set.

Although library buildings are closed, libraries will deliver the Challenge through virtual services and e-lending platforms.

Topic work 

 

History

Look at a variety of seaside pictures both from the U.K. and from abroad. Pictures of the seaside from the UK and abroad can be found on google images.   Identify similarities and differences in these pictures and write them up.

Challenge: Find some of the U.K. seaside places on a map.  How do the children know where to look?

 

Science

This half term we will be looking at everyday materials, their properties and their uses. As an introductory lesson I would like you to conduct an experiment on colour mixing. You can find all the resources below to support you.

 

Don’t forget to take pictures of your experiment and complete the questions.

RE

This week, I would like you to look at the features of a church. Discuss what a ‘font, altar, pulpit, lectern and pew’ is and where they can be found in a church. Read the PowerPoint below and complete the worksheet.

  • By the end of the term you will create your own ‘Wind in the Willows’ puppet. This week I would like you to create you wind in the willow puppet. You can choose one of the following characters, Mr. Toad, Ratty, Mole or Badger.  Use buttons and felt or other material to design your character.

Reminders

P.E. will be on a Wednesday. 

Please try to listen to your child read every day to keep up and develop their reading skills.

Homework is given out every Friday along with spellings- This must be completed to a high standard. Please ensure your child returns their homework on the following Wednesday. Spelling test will also be done on Thursday.

 

Any work that your child child does at home will earn them a dojo point.

Each week, the class with the best attendance gets a chocolate cake.  Please send your child to school EVERY day!!!

During multi faith week, Year 2 explored the religion Islam. We looked at the holy book in Islam and the importance of prayer and remembering Allah. We learnt about special Islamic celebrations and asked Miss.Patel some questions about her religion. We had lots of fun creating our own prayer mats and prayer beads.

In Year 2, we have been learning all about the Stinky Cheese Man! He has been causing mischief around the classroom. We took part in some role play during literacy and acted out our favourite part of the Stinky Cheese Man story. Enjoy!

Year 2's Favourite Class Bible Stories

In RE we have been learning about the Bible and why it is a holy book. We have listened to many different Bible stories from the old and new testament. We enjoyed creating some of our favourite Bible stories and sharing them with our friends.
