Welcome to Year 6

Home Learning

Whilst we are not at school, work will be posted each Monday morning. If you have any questions regarding the tasks set, please email your child's class teacher using the following email year6@st-pauls.lancs.sch.uk  Teachers will endeavour to reply to every parent as soon as possible. These are unprecedented times so please continue to be patient if we are unable to respond immediately to any questions about home learning activities set.  It is very important that you contact your class teacher at least once a week by Thursday morning to let them know you are OK and how your child is coping with the work set.

Thank you for your continuous support.

RE

Following on from last week’s lesson on climate injustice, we will focus on the Canticle of the Sun by St Francis.

Canticle of the Sun

Be praised, my Lord,

for all your creatures,

and first for brother sun,

who makes the day bright and luminous.

He is beautiful and radiant with great splendour

he is the image of you,

most high.

Be praised, my Lord,

for sister moon and the stars.

You placed them in the sky,

so bright and twinkling.

In this canticle, St Francis praises God for some of the wonders of the natural world. St Francis believed that everything in the natural world deserves to be valued.

Your task is to write a prayer, thanking God for the wonders of the natural world. Remember to include figurative language (simile, metaphors, personification or alliteration). You may also want to decorate your prayer with images of the natural world.

Next Thursday is Ascension Day. Watch the video below which focuses on Jesus' ascension after his resurrection and the message that he gave to his disciples right before he was taken to heaven. It also tells of the coming of the Holy Spirit as promised by Jesus.

In addition to these activities, you may want to share the Family Prayer Adventure podcasts below. There is one following each daily theme of Thy Kingdom Come, and they are about 10-12 minutes long. They feature a game, an interactive Bible story, a chance to pray and great music.
